Looking Back: Our Wedding Day

By Angel Macaraig - Thursday, November 25, 2021

In 3 days, PJ and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary! We also announced yesterday through our respective personal Facebook accounts that we're pregnant! Before we start a new chapter of our lives, I'd like to look back on the day when we received the Holy Sacrament of Marriage.

We got engaged last February 12, 2019, and we chose November 28, 2020 as our wedding date. We originally planned to invite around 180 guests consisting of our families, relatives, and friends, but the pandemic unexpectedly happened. We decided to push through with our original wedding date but we had to adjust our plans for everyone's safety. We trimmed down our guests to 24 pax — we were only able to invite our immediate families and some of our friends.

Despite the setbacks, I guess it was really meant to happen on that day! Although it didn't happen as originally planned, it was a beautiful union and celebration nonetheless! I love how everything turned out
— simple, minimalist, and happy! I will always be grateful to our families, friends, and suppliers who have been so supportive since Day 1. šŸ’•

We have a lot of photos and videos to share, but it can be summarized with our onsite photo slideshow and wedding highlights video below. Please enjoy watching!

Realizations

1. An intimate wedding has its own charm. As much as we wanted to celebrate with everyone, we unexpectedly loved the idea of an intimate and simple celebration. No frills! No pressure! Very practical (in fact we saved up half of our original intended budget. yey, savings!). At the end of the day, what matters the most is the two of you (bride and groom).

2. An event coordinator (OTD will do) is still important even if you're having an intimate and small celebration. Same leg work, just fewer guests! I was so grateful to our coordinator because I had ZERO stress on the day. Everything was so smooth!

3. Top non-negotiables for me are the photo and video team, hair & make-up artist, and food! We made sure to get the best out there that fits our budget.

4. Make sure to eat at your wedding reception. A lot of couples shared that they regret not being able to eat during their reception. Both my husband and I are foodies, so it was our top priority. LOL.

5. Lastly, let go and let God. While it won't hurt to plan everything in detail, just remember that not everything will go as planned. Trust your suppliers and make sure to enjoy your day. Don't sweat the little stuff!

Dear God,

You know I have always been grateful for this union —  for blessing our marriage, for giving me the man that I prayed for since long ago. I know we will face a lot of challenges along the way, but through your guidance, I am confident that we will get through them. Thank you also for another answered prayer (baby coming soon). Indeed we are blessed more than what we think we deserved. I am praying for a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Our anniversary will be in three days! Hope we get to celebrate a lot of years together.

Amen.
