Day Tour in Guimaras - The Land of Sweet Mangoes
By Angel Macaraig - Saturday, August 11, 2018
When I planned our itinerary for this trip, I was torn between booking an island hopping tour in Guimaras - the land of sweet mangoes, or the picturesque Isla de Gigantes located at the northernmost part of Iloilo. I also thought "why not do both??". But since we have only four days to explore this part of Western Visayas, we had to do some prioritization. In order to maximize our stay in Iloilo, we just went for a day tour in Guimaras.

We availed a tricycle tour package from Kuya Michael Selorico - I think he's a pretty well known tour guide in Guimaras. We were confident enough to book his services because of a lot of good feedback we've read online. Plus, he didn't ask us for downpayment prior our trip, so there was really nothing to worry about.
For bookings, you may contact him at 0977-3725074 or facebook.com/michael.selorico.

I wasn't in my right mind when I booked our flight to Iloilo. Yes, I know right, 4:05 AM??? Haha! Coming from work few hours before our flight, we weren't able to get a good sleep - not even a nap!
We were able to book our not so promo fare (but still promo!) at around Php 3500 via AirAsia. Appreciate our early flight though because there were no delays! Yay for that!

How to go to Guimaras?
- Ride a PUV Express bound to SM Iloilo (35-40 mins) - Php 50
- Ride jeep to Ortiz Wharf/ Parola with SM City Proper signboard pass (15-20 mins) - Php 8
- Message Kuya Michael re: jump-off point - if Ortiz or Parol Wharf?
- Ride boat from Ortiz/ Parola Wharf to Jordan Wharf, Guimaras (15-20 mins) - Php 13
Out of the 11 destinations included in the package, we were only able to visit 7. I blame myself for booking a super early flight. We didn't have enough energy to finish the tour. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed each moment. Another lesson learned: I will never book a 4am flight again, haha!
First Stop: Smallest Plaza
Located few meters away from the Jordan Port, our first stop was the Smallest Plaza - the smallest plaza in the Philippines.

Fifth Stop: Lunch at Pitstop Restaurant
We had lunch at the Pitstop Restaurant. Their Mango Pizza is definitely a must-try. In addition to the mango pizza, we also ordered BBQ meal. Well, we super love the mango pizza, but I have no comments on the BBQ meal.
